Latest Transformers 4 trailer has Lamborghini getting in on the action

Transformers 4 trailer

If any modern movie franchise defines spectacle, it has to be Transformers. All instantiations are about inviting audiences to sit down, fill up popcorn and turn off their brains because the next 90 minutes are nothing but shiny robots, explosions and loud noises. Oh, and cars... lots of cars. The latest trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction, the fourth film in the series, has just hit the web, and it checks all the boxes of what makes the films stand out.

The last trailer showed off a plethora of the movie's cars. This new one aims for action and focuses mostly on robots beating each other up in various international locales. Although, there is a great look at the movie's Lamborghini Aventador (pictured above) transforming and even briefly fighting Optimus Prime.

From the previous trailer and other releases, we know that the latest movie features a ton of vehicles, including a new look for Bumblebee, the Chevrolet Camaro, plus a Bugatti Veyron, C7 Corvette, Freightliner truck, Pagani Huayra and many more. Transformers: Age of Extinction is scheduled to hit theaters on June 27, 2014.

Lamborghini Aventador Receives Carbon Interior from MAcarbon

The Lamborghini Aventador is a carbon fiber beast that offers a ton of excitement per second, but there are still certain ares where one might want a bit of extra drama. One of these is the interior - how can you not want exposed carbon fiber in the cabin of such a car?

The answer comes from the aftermarket world and, in this case, from US specialist MAcarbon,. which has delivered a series of carbon fiber trimming for the LP700-4.

The company has shared a couple of photos with us and the prospect of gifting an Aventador with such goodies brings quite a lot of excitement. So far, MAcarbon has released developments such as trimming for the steering wheel, door panels, center console, as well as two pieces that are destined for the inner and outer frames of the navigation unit.

Lamborghini Gallardo on PUR Wheels

The Lamborghini Gallardo was definitely a good idea to begin with. Smaller, nimbler and simpler than a V12, the car quickly became a hit with buyers.

Video: Lamborghini Presents One-Off Aventador LP720-4 at 2013 Geneva Motor Show

Lamborghini Presents One-Off Aventador LP720-4 at 2013 Geneva Motor Show

At the upcoming 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the stand of Lamborghini will have one major theme, their 50th anniversary of the Italian car brand, which they will celebrate with a pretty unique model.

Lamborghini CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, announced that a one-off design of the Aventador will be unveiled to mark this event.

According to new information, it will get an unique color and some carbon fiber features. The model will be called Aventador LP720-4, which indicates that its V10 engine will deliver an extra 20 horsepower over the standard supercar.

Lamborghini Aventador LP720-4 to Debut in Geneva

The Geneva Motor Show is set to bring us many new pieces of fresh and exciting metal and one of the best will come from Lamborghini, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

Company CEO Stephan Winkelman previously announced that he Raging Bull will introduce a one-off proposal at the Swiss event, but didn’t offer too many details on the matter.

It now seems that the new development will be a special Aventador, which will be called LP720-4, as AutoGespot writes. Since the car uses this designation, it means that it will gain an extra 20 hp, not just the expected visual treats.

Considering that the Aventador is already a full-force beast, as we found out during our test drive, we’re really curious what an ECU remap can do for it - this is the tech modification we're expecting it to receive.

Lamborghini Aventador Gets Chrome Red Wrap

Lamborghini Aventador Gets Chrome Red Wrap

The Lamborghini Aventador is a car that feels even more sporty to drive than it looks, as we found out during our test drive. We got behind the wheel of a white LP700-4 which drew attention like a magnet everywhere we took it.

However, there will always be some who want even more visual drama and the tuning world is the answer for them. The perfect example of this lies in the adjacent image, which shows us an Aventador wrapped in Chrome Red.

Our own Sir May B. Bach points out that this looks more like Chrome Burgundy, but he dismisses such shades, so we won’t tell you more about his opinion on this.

Sales of Cars Costing Over $130,000 Will Rise 35% by 2015 – Strong Demand from US and China

Sales of Cars Costing Over $130,000 Will Rise 35% by 2015 – Strong Demand from US and China

As most of the world’s countries struggle with the precarious economic situation we have been facing for the last few years, and while manufacturers are looking to build ever-cheaper and more efficient cars, sales of luxury and sports cars costing over $130,000 are still set to rise, in 2013.

The strong demand comes from the US and Chinese markets, which have not really been affected by the economic downturn that much. Now, sales of such cars are set to increase by a whopping 35%, by 2015, reaching the highest level since 2007 in 2013. This is helped by a 52% surge in North America, which helps Fiat and Volkswagen, two companies who between themselves own Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Bentley, Bugatti and Porsche.

Now, a very important model for the US market is getting ever closer to the showroom floor – the Maserati Levante SUV. It will be added to the US lineup of offerings, alongside the new Quattroporte and the Ghibli sedan(BMW 5-Series-sized offering), which they hope will boost their total sales figure to 50,000 units per year, by 2015.

The Ghibli will come this year, while buyers will have to wait until 2014 to get the Levante SUV.
China is also a strong market for supercars, and it has now officially become the number one market for many exotic car makers, like Lamborghini, for instance, while Ferrari is also well-represented and more and more of their cars are spotted on the street, brand new, and being driven by ‘new money’.

Maserati and Lamborghini pull out of Iran

Maserati and Lamborghini pull out of Iran
Daimler is out, Toyota is out, Porsche is out, Hyundai, PSA Peugeot-Citroën are out and when it comes to selling cars in Iran, now Maserati and Lamborghini are out, too. The definitive pullouts of those last two automakers are said to be reactions to a press conference held by a group called United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI). The group highlights businesses that sell in both the US market and Iran, and works to get those businesses to choose one market or the other.

UANI said it had sent letters to Maserati and Lamborghini about their dealings in Iran, but that the letters went unanswered. Mark Wallace, head of UANI and a former US ambassador to the United Nations, held a press conference in October of last year that referenced the two companies. Apparently Lamborghini contacted Wallace just after the press conference and told him "they were out, they weren't doing any business in Iran anymore."

Discussions with Maserati then took place, and the Italian automaker said it had been out of Iran ever since Fiat announced it was leaving the country in May 2011. UANI said Maserati had been in talks with an Iranian distributor, however, and that distributor was continuing to use the Maserati name. The carmaker has since cut all ties with Iranian interests and has prevented its name from being used, adding that its new models will not be able to be sold there because they won't pass regulations the country's regulations.

Twin Turbo Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera by Wheels Boutique on ADV.1 Wheels

Twin Turbo Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera by Wheels Boutique on ADV.1 Wheels

In what can only be described as the one of the most extreme Lamborghini Gallardo twin-turbocharged builds we’ve ever laid eyes on, ADV.1 wheels and Wheels Boutique recently completed work on the following matte black example by fitting it with a pair of the wheel manufacturer’s ADV05.1 SL lightweight wheels measuring 20×9.0 front, and 20×12.0 at the rear.

Twin Turbo Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera by Wheels Boutique on ADV.1 Wheels

This particular Gallardo is finished in matte black as are the wheels, and features a twin-turbo kit possibly producing over 1000hp, although no official technical specifications have been released about this car.

The Gallardo also features the front bumper from the LP560-4, the Superleggera stripe along the side of the car from the LP570-4 Superleggera as well as a customised version of the rear wing fitted to the range topping Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale featuring green accents.

On the inside, the car features complete carbon fiber racing seats with literally no cushioning and while this may seem like a crazy decision by the owner, we can only presume it’d be easy to overlook the seats when trying to complete the ultimate Gallardo build.

Volkswagen breaks 40-year-old sales record in 2012

Volkswagen breaks 40-year-old sales record in 2012
The last time Volkswagen moved this many vehicles in America in one year, Richard Nixon was still a President in good standing, Let It Be was a radio hit and each car wearing the VW badge boasted an air-cooled engine. That's right, with a grand total of 580,286 vehicles sold in the US last year, the VW Group has broken its own four-decades-old sales record by 2,899 vehicles.

Of that 580k total sold, 438k were Volkswagens and 139k were Audi products – increases of 35.1 percent and 18.5 percent, respectively, in year-over-year sales. The ultra-premium members of the VW group also fared well; Bentley delivered 2,315 vehicles for a 23.3-precent increase, and Lamborghini delivered 520 units for a 52.9-percent jump. Bugatti, we're told is "right on track."

Jetta (pictured) sales paced the marque with 170k models sold, and Passat also finished very strong with sales of 117k total. Tiguan also racked up its best year on file, with 31,731 models shifted.

The company expects what it is calling "moderate growth" for the 2013 sales year ahead, though perhaps not at so blistering a rate as it racked up in 2012.

VOLKSWAGEN GROUP OF AMERICA ACHIEVES SALES OF 580,286 VEHICLES IN 2012
-Marks the best year in organization's history-

• Group ends year with sales up by 30.6 percent, beating the previous sales record from 1970 by 2,899 vehicles
• Volkswagen brand delivered 438,133 units, a 35.1 percent increase
• Audi delivered an all-time record of 139,310 vehicles, a 18.5 percent increase
• Bentley delivered 2,315 vehicles for the year, an increase of 23.3 percent
• Lamborghini delivered 520 vehicles in 2013, an increase of 52.9 percent, and Bugatti is right on track

HERNDON, Va. (January 13, 2013) - Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (VWGoA) closed out its record-breaking 2012 with sales of more than 580,200 units, making 2012 the best year in the organization's U.S. sales history. The Volkswagen Group's previous sales record was set in 1970, when the organization delivered 577,387 units in the U.S. market. The market share of VWGoA was 4.0 in 2012, up 0.6 from 2011.

"Our employees and our dealer and supplier partners have worked very hard to establish foundations for success in the U.S. market, and they deserve so much credit for setting this new record," said Jonathan Browning, President and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. "We are pleased to see all of our brands contributing to growth and setting this new landmark".

The Volkswagen brand had its best year since 1973, selling 438,133 vehicles. Volkswagen saw great success with models across the portfolio. Since 2009, the Volkswagen brand has increased sales by 105 percent. The Chattanooga-built Passat sold 117,023 units, its best year ever. The company's volume-leading Jetta sold 170,424 vehicles. 2012 also marked the best year ever for the Tiguan, which sold 31,731 vehicles for the year, an increase of 22.1 percent.

The Audi brand continued its momentum with its best year ever, delivering 139,310 vehicles. Since 2009, the brand has increased sales by 68 percent. Audi ended the year with its 24th consecutive month of record sales, and December 2012 was the best month ever since Audi began selling cars in the U.S. market in 1970. Never before had Audi sold more than 13,000 vehicles in a month, but in December 2012, the brand delivered 14,841.

The luxury brands of the Volkswagen Group of America also saw significant gains in 2012. Bentley delivered 2,315 vehicles for the year. In 2013, Bentley Motors of the Americas will be moving its U.S. headquarters from Boston to Herndon, Va., joining Volkswagen of America, Audi of America, Lamborghini and VW Credit, Inc.

Bugatti, the epitome of exclusivity and performance, had a successful 2012. Lamborghini ended the year with growth of more than 50 percent.

In addition to a successful year in sales, in 2012 the Volkswagen Group of America continued to lay foundations for growth. The year saw the opening of a new $27 million technical center in Oxnard, Calif., as well as the groundbreaking of a parts distribution center in Roane County, Tenn. and the expansion of the company's financial services arm, VCI, Inc., in Libertyville, Ill. Both will open in 2013. In January 2013, one of the largest solar parks in Tennessee will open on the Volkswagen Chattanooga site, providing 9.5 megawatts, up to 12.5 percent of the 2 million-square-foot plant's power.

The aim for Volkswagen Group of America 2013 is to continue to build on those fundamentals that allow sustainable and profitable growth. Volkswagen Group of America expects to see moderate growth in 2013 while still outpacing the industry.

Sheer Lack of Taste Ruins Lamborghini Aventador in China

Sheer Lack of Taste Ruins Lamborghini Aventador in China
We have said it before, and we`ll say it again - the lack of car culture and taste, in this case, turns most tuning efforts into complete failures. Just have a look at this Lamborghini Aventador, a car which was designed by talented and passionate designers - it is now completely ruined, but not because somebody has crashed it, but because it has been very distastefully modified.

We get the chrome blue wrap - we totally get it, but the orange accents completely ruin the whole look of the car! Why would anybody want to accentuate the seams between the fenders and bumper, or between the hood and the bumper, or the door lines.

Lamborghini has worked very hard to make the Aventador look stunning, and they have genuinely succeeded. It not only looks good, but it drives equally impressively, as you can learn by reading our full test drive of the Italian supercar.

It`s a shame how people ruin these stunning cars like this. If changing the look of the car is what they want, they should get some people who actually know what they`re doing handle it.

Also, if the idea you want to apply is bad, and will make the car worse, somebody should follow you and stop you, for the sake of your sanity and for the preservation of your car’s good looks.

Lamborghini and Maserati Abandon Business in Iran

Lamborghini and Maserati Abandon Business in Iran
After many months of rumors and deliberations, Maserati and Lamborghini have confirmed that they’re withdrawing all business from Iran effective immediately. The shock announcements comes after a campaign run by the United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) organisation pressured the two firm’s to shut up shop.

Back in October 2012, UANI spokesman Nathan Carleton said, “We weren’t trying to just embarrass anyone. We sent several letters to both companies asking them about their business in Iran and they just didn’t write back”.

Following on from these talks, Carleton added that “After the event we were immediately contacted by Lamborghini. They told us they were out, they weren’t doing any business in Iran anymore. We’re happy with that,” and not long after, Maserati followed suit. Maserati which is an arm of the Fiat Group, stated it was leaving the region after Fiat announced in May 2012 that it had lost a presence in the Islamic Republic.

New York City Public advocate Bill de Blasio concluded by stating, “This is one more step in the right direction in a crucial campaign to hit the Iranian regime at its economic core. Maserati and Lamborghini have done the right thing in pulling their business from Iran – and I am pleased we can remove them from Iranwatchlist.com. This is also a strong message to New Yorkers and Americans: we as consumers can help fight against a nuclear Iran, and I plan to continue this fight relentlessly, with as many allies as we can assemble.”
