For a mere $212,800, one may acquire the second generation of Bentley Continental convertible, the 2012 GTC. Muscle from the twin-turbo, 6.0-liter, 12-cylinder engine is up from 552 hp to 567, and the great surge of torque—a prerequisite of any “winged B” vehicle—jumps from 479 lb-ft to 516. Accelerating from 50 to 70 mph takes only 2.5 seconds. Bentley also trumpets a wider track at both ends plus steering and suspension tweaks for an improvement in dynamics, a faster-acting auto transmission, and refinements to the car’s acoustics. Considering the GTC weighs around 6,400 pounds, the zip to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds is quite something. Likewise the top speed of 195 mph. But that’s the great thing about a Bentley; it says “power” in more ways than one.
