Euro NCAP Says BMW 3-Series Is the Safest Large Family Car

Euro NCAP Says BMW 3-Series Is the Safest Large Family Car

Nowadays, having a five-star safety rating doesn't put you ahead of the competition. This is especially true in the premium segment, where ten airbags are not uncommon.

We already knew that BMW's new 3-Series is among the safest cars out there, but further confirmation of the Bavarian model came today when Euro NCAP said it was Best in Class for the Large Family Car category. To earn this, the F30 3-Series earned a score of 95 percent in adult occupant protection, 84 percent in child occupant and 86 percent in safety assist technology.

The 3 Series scored maximum points for its protection of the 18 month infant, and lost only a fraction of a point for protection of the 3 year old.

In the case of a pedestrian impact, the BMW 3-Series’ construction could save lives, as Euro NCAP tests showed good protection for the bumper and the front edge of the bonnet.

BMW 3-Series Diesel Coming to Canada

BMW 3-Series Diesel Coming to Canada

Bimmerpost has just stumbled upon a file containing new vehicles that will debut at the Montreal Auto Show 2013 that names the BMW 328d as one of the debuts.

The car doesn’t exist in BMW’s current nomenclature, but it’s the same 3-Series diesel that’s expected in the US.

Rumor has it it’s the 2-lifer N45 TwinPower Turbo engine usually found in the 325d or 125d. Yes, that’s the new twin-turbo diesel unit with 218 hp.

However, it sounds more like wishful thinking to us, as they could simply de-tuned 3-liter, as twin-turbo tech might push pricing to unreasonable levels.

Either way, this new type of 3-Series will enter production in July 2013 and should also be available with xDrive.

BMW 335i Performance Exhaust Sound

BMW 335i Performance Exhaust Sound
When we drove the new 3-Series, we managed to have quite a bit of fun, even though we were playing with the single-turbo diesel unit of the 320d, so we can imagine that the model which tops the range until the new M3 arriver, manages to offer one succulent ride.

To show this, we’ve brought along a clip that shows a BMW 335i that had been gifted with a OEM performance exhaust. The video, which comes from Youtube user ZellusCars, allows us to listen to the voice of the twin-turbo 3.0-liter straight six and we have to tell you that this sounds pretty nice.

We’ll remind you that we are talking about a machine that only needs 5.5 seconds to cover the 0 to 62 mph, so it mixes (audio) show with go.

Vossen Wheels BMW 3-Series F30 Preview

The fresh F30 BMW 3-Series has attracted a lot of interest and, of course, tuners are paying close attention to the car, with the aftermarket releases connected to it starting to arrive one by one.

The latest tuning company to touch the new 3er is Vossen wheels, which is preparing to launch a set of rims for the car. Fore now, the US wheel specialist has released a teaser image, one that really catches the eye, promising to give us the full release soon.

The 3-Series has been gifted with a set of CV3 Concave wheels, which come with a minimalist five-spoke design that allows the lines of the car to draw even more attention. These come in a silver finish, which creates a strong contrast with the black color of the body and the dark window tint.
