The color is called
Everose Gold. And that’s the most feminine thing about Hamann’s redux of
the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, which the German tuning house calls the
Hawk. Check out the new, vented carbon-fiber hood and the air scoop on
the roof. The trunk lid, to which the rear wing is secured, is also
carbon fiber. Where the standard version’s 6.3-liter V8 makes 563 hp and
479 lb-ft of torque, Hamann has tweaked it to 636 hp and 501 lb-ft.
This has shaved a couple of tenths off the zero-60 mph sprint, now at
3.6 seconds, and added 1.8 mph to the top speed, now 198.8. The wheels
are special one-piece 21-inch alloys and the exhaust system is made from
titanium (four pipes, each one 3.5 inches in diameter), so this isn’t
going to be a bargain. But the suspension has been upgraded and made
adjustable so that the center of gravity can be lowered by about an
inch. What’s more, the cabin has seen a radical makeover with more
leather and suede, black anodized aluminum pedals, plus a re-designed
steering wheel.
