Audi SQ5 TDI Gets B&B Boost to 395 Hp

Audi SQ5 TDI Gets B&B Boost to 395 Hp
The new Audi SQ5, featuring the twin-turbo version of Audi’s three-liter V6, is a unique proposition in the segment, and with 313 hp and 650 Nm of torque available at a flex of the driver`s right foot, it is really a monster. However, some are just not content with 313 hp, and want more.

Well, for those people, German tuner B&B is now offering a three stage engine tuning program for the BiTDI engine, and while the upgrades are on the expensive side, the resulting numbers are very impressive. The first stage, which costs €1,498 simply increases the boost pressure, which makes the output go up to 340 hp, and 728 Nm of torque.

Add €200 more, and B&B will optimize the engine electronics, further boosting power, up to 365 hp and 750 Nm. However, it`s Stage 3 which is really impressive - custom injectors, new larger intercooler, air ducts and intake paths bring the total power output to 395 hp, while torque rises again and reaches the 800 Nm mark.

Also, since it is well-known that the VW group V6 diesel, especially the latest generations of the engine, sound rather nice when breathing out through a straight exhaust, so the German tuner is also offering just such a mod for €1,950.

The 395 hp version of the SQ5 is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h or 0-62 mph in 4.7 seconds, before topping out at 270 km/h or 168 mph.

2013 NAIAS: Audi SQ5

Last year, Audi launched its coolest SUV ever, thee SQ5, which packed a brand new 3-liter twin-turbo V6 TDI. Even though the mill produced 313 PS (308 hp), it was not deemed fit for service in the US.

However, at the 2013 NAIAS in Detroit, the SQ5 is making its debut on US shores, not with the diesel, but with a TSI engine it managed to gets its quattro paws on.

Powering the US-market SQ5 is the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 familiar to Audi fans. The engine makes 349 hp and 347 lb-ft (470 Nm) of torque.

Yet even though it’s got the same running gear and a bit more power, the supercharged SQ5 is slower to 62 mph (100 km/h), reaching it in 5.3 seconds instead of the TDI’s 5.1.

Still, it’s no slouch ad with a lowered suspension setup and optional 21-inch wheels, it’s not bad looking either... in a bland sort of way.
