2014 Corvette C7 Stingray Looks Great in Blue
The very recently-revealed Chevy Corvette C7, which is reusing the ‘Stingray’ name has attracted a lot of attention, so we thought we`d give it a new lick of paint, to see what it looks like. We tried to make it blue, with yellow calipers - we`re not sure yellow calipers will eve be available, but they sure do look good on the blue car.

2014 Mercedes E63 AMG 4MATIC in Action

2014 Mercedes E63 AMG 4MATIC in Action
The 2014 model year Mercedes E63 AMG is so different than what we’re used to, it might as well be a completely different car. The German automaker has managed to squeeze out even more power from its 5.5-liter bi-turbo engine, completely change the look of the car and also the way it handles.

Both the E63 AMG Sedan and Wagon now come as standard with 557 PS (550 PS) and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque. If that, plus the price of new tires scares you, than you should also know the super sports saloon is available for the first time with 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The system has been developed to be biased towards the fun side of things rather than safety.

AMG also offers a new power pack called “S-Model”, which gets you 577 hp (585 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm).

The first few videos of these new supermodels have been released, and you should definitely take a look at how the cars behave on the track. Mercedes says that despite adding weight to the car, their 4MATIC system actually makes it faster.

autoevolution will be attending the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.

2014 Jeep Patriot and Compass ditch CVT for six-speed auto

It was reported in Automotive News a few months ago, but a new report on Allpar.com adds some details to news that the 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot will get a six-speed automatic to replace the CVTs they currently use. According to a tip provided to Allpar, the 2014 models will begin production in March and be on sale sometime in the summer. The Jatco-sourced CVT in use until now – Jatco is owned by Nissan and Mitsubishi – has been often criticized, and many won't be sad to see it go.

Maserati Quattroporte Nurburgring Testing

Maserati Quattroporte Nurburgring Testing
Work on the replacement for the Maserati Quattroporte is going along nicely, as the engineers have moved on to track testing the car on the famous Nurburgring track in Germany.

The current car has always been a sort of animal, fitted with a snappy set of paddles and a V8 engine that’s louder than life. So this sort of testing on a fast and unforgiving track is to be expected!

The Italians have always been a proud bunch, and even though they hid the shape of the new four-door luxury saloon under a wall of camouflage, they still let us know it’s a trident car underneath.

The Quattroporte is the first of what will likely be three new Maseratis that are expected to revitalize the brand.

Recent reports suggest the car will be equipped with your choice of either a supercharged V6 or a turbocharged V8, both mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox built by ZF.

2014 Maserati Quattroporte Getting Supercharged V6, Turbo V8

The current generation Maserati Quattroporte has become a familiar sight on the road, due in part to the fact that it’s been around since 2004. The next generation has already been testing for over a year and will be shown most likely at the Detroit Motor Show.

According to CarandDriver, the model will come with two radically new powertrains. The base units is rumored to be a Ferrari-developed supercharged V6 that produces 420 hp.

Meanwhile, the top shelf item will be a bespoke turbocharged V8 good for 520 hp. The V6 will arrive after the V8 and will be 30% percent more efficient than the V8 engine found in the Ferrari California.

Fiat Group is investing $1 billion into the revival of the Maserati brand, and part of this money will go toward developing a new lightweight architecture for the Quattroporte.
