Shelby GT500 Gets Galpin Widebody Kit

The Ford Mustang is already a special car, and in its latest incarnation, the progress is evident. We were pleasantly surprised, when we took if for a very long and thorough drive, about which you can read more in the full test drive report.

However, the whole idea behind the Mustang is to not leave it stock, and truly make it your own. One way you could go about doing that is this widebody kit, made by Ford tuning specialist Galpin Auto Sports or GAS. It is not made out of carbon fiber, or fiberglass or plastic. Instead, it is actually hand-crafted sheet metal, and widens the car’s stance by 22 cm or 9 inches, making the already aggressive Mustang considerably more so.

The car in the photos is finished in Pearl White, with Cobalt Blue longitudinal stripes, along the bonnet, roof and boot, as well as more discrete lines along the sides.

Aside from the obvious exterior mods, the car also gets custom red leather interior upholstery, as well as a high-end audio system. Also, with the addition of a supercharger on top 5.8-liter V8 engine, power is brought up from 650 hp to 750 hp, and to make sure it stops properly, six-piston calipers are also installed.
