Nissan North America has just announced record US sales figures
for the whole of 2012. The car company has managed to shift no less than
1,141,656 units versus 1,042,534 in 2011, an increase of 9.5 percent
and the first time that the Nissan brand sold more than 1 million units
in a calendar year.
The redesigned Almera sedan launched for the 2013 model year is the star of the show, with 12.6 percent increase in demand lifting sales to 302,934 for 2012. The battle was clearly fought in mid-size cars, and Nissan is content with what its redesigned Almera managed against strong competition.
Infiniti sales rose 15 percent in December and 22 percent overall for 2012. Their top performer was the new JX crossover, which sold 21,674 through year end, despite being an all-new, never before seen model.
Infiniti QX sales of 2,232 were an increase of 28.6 percent in December, marking its best month ever. For 2012, sales increased 14 percent to 15,310 units, its best year since the full-size luxury SUV was introduced into the Infiniti line in 2004.
“Nissan had a record-breaking 2012, led by strong totals for Altima, Rogue and Versa,” said Al Castignetti, vice president, Nissan Division. “Our aggressive product launch schedule with five new core vehicles in under two years positions us well for a successful 2013.”
