Honda to Build 2014 Accord Hybrid at Ohio Plant

Honda to Build 2014 Accord Hybrid at Ohio Plant
Honda has announced that it will build the 2014 Accord Hybrid at the Japanese manufacturer’s

Marysville, Ohio plant. However, the plant requires $23 million in investment before production can commence. The money will go into a large scale expansion of the plant, and will bring about the creation of 50 new jobs.

The Marysville plant is one of four plants Honda is operating in Ohio, and their total combined output is an impressive 700,000 units per year.

"With more than 30 years of continuously building eight generations of the Honda Accord close to our customers, our team now is using its experience and flexibility to add this sophisticated Accord Hybrid model," said Jeff Tomko, plant manager of the Marysville Auto Plant. "At the same time, we are continuing with our commitment to manufacture new models in Ohio, along with the resulting growth in jobs."

The Accord Hybrid features a 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine, of the new Earth Dreams series, which is aided by a 124 kW electric motor. With its new-generation engine, it is a viable alternative to the Toyota Camry Hybrid and the Ford Fusion Hybird, both of which are direct competitors.
