Just because VW
wants to use a lower-case u and an exclamation point for its new up!
sub-compact, it doesn’t mean that proper rules of grammar should be
ditched. So, the new VW Up—which is roughly the size of a Fiat 500 and
began life as a concept car—is going into production in December, but
whether Americans will be able to buy one is still undecided. However,
since VW has declared its ambitions to be the biggest car company in the
world, as well as the thorny issue of corporate average fuel economy,
then there’s certainly a case for putting it into American showrooms.
Fuel sources are gasoline (into a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine),
natural gas or electricity.
