Tresor - Hideous Audi Q7-Based SUV
Welcome to the vehicle only a blind man with a distinct lack of taste would buy, the Audi Q7-based Tresor by Armortech & Atelier Valdeig. This is the kind of car which would appeal to the same people who would drive the leopard wrapped Lamborghini, or the dragon-wrapped Mercedes S65 AMG.

Its name, Tresor, is the French word for, wait for it, “treasure”, however we fail to see the connection between the name and the actual car (it may be related to its price, though). The car looks like a cross between a large refrigerator, a van and a Bentley, though its makers claim it also gets styling cues from Rolls Royce - we’ve been unable to spot these, however. The headlights seem to be directly lifted from the current generation Bentley Continental and they don’t fit the design of the front at all - the rear is a bit cleaner, design-wise, but still nothing to write home about. We already have the Eterniti Artemis, which is also a high-end SUV based on a VW-Group platform it’s not particularly good looking either, so why do we need this?

In our opinion, if a new manufacturer wants to make it in this market with a new luxury SUV, they should go the Spyker Paris to Peking way by making something utterly original and stunning to look at, while retaining the chunky SUV looks which people like but also injecting a little bit of class into the mix, something which an Audi Q7 with aftermarket bits to make it look like a cross between a Bentley and a Roller just can’t match.

The interior features bits from both Audi and Bentley and we have to say it looks much more promising than the exterior of the car, though still not original at all. Engine-wise, the car is expected to get tweaked and uprated versions of the Q7’s current range of petrol and diesel motors.

We envision this SUV selling well in places like Russia or China, where ‘new money’ will be definitely spent on the Tresor (which can be armor-plated if the customer so desires - one of its few, truly unique features), whereas ‘old money’ will always go down the actual Bentley or Rolls way, or maybe towards the production version of the new Lambo Urus, if a super-SUV is really required.
