A new generation of
Benz roadster is coming out this summer. The chunkier-looking ’12 SLK
(internal code R172) sports the usual folding hardtop, but this model
adds the option of a "Magic Sky" roof that uses special glass whose
structure can be controlled electronically to block or let in light.
Engine choices run from a supercharged 2.3-liter four making 192 hp up
to a 349hp V6 in the SLK32 AMG. Mercedes claims that the new engine
range "will consume considerably less fuel."
