Oh, but the Maserati
GranTurismo Convertible Sport is a beautiful thing. In Europe, they call
it the GranCabrio Sport, but Americans seem to prefer things spelled
out in full. The company says this new Sport variant has sharper
responses in the way the more powerful 4.7-liter V8 behaves, along with
shortened gearshift times and a revised adaptive air suspension. The
GTCS retains the 444 horsepower of the non-Sport version, but enjoys
another 15 lb-ft of torque, pushing the total to 376. Yet fuel
consumption is down by six percent, thanks to a friction reduction
program. The Sport also wears a blacked-out grille and debuts a new
color, Rosso Trionfale, a tribute to the company’s 1950s-era racers. It
reaches the States this August, with a modest increase in price over the
GT Convertible’s $136,300
