Fiat and PSA Peugeot-Citroen have announced that they will be
continuing their collaboration in the production of commercial vehicles
in 2013. This news is somewhat odd, as PSA has all-but cut off its ties
with Fiat, after entering an alliance with General Motors.
The timespan for their joint effort is not a set one, and there are no
plans to alter that any time soon, as the van-producing joint venture is
going well. An official PSA spokesman stated just that, saying: "The
cooperation is working well and will continue to do so in the future."
They currently build the Citroen Jumper, Fiat Ducato and Peugeot Boxer vans, at a factory near Chieti, in the south of Italy. The plant has an annual capacity of 250,000 units, and is the single largest manufacturer of vans on the Old Continent.
Also, aside from the larger vans, PSA also rebadges the Fiat Fiorino, which is built by TOFAS, in Turkey, which they then sell on as the Citroen Nemo and Peugeot Bipper Tepee.
