Similar to the "cash for clunkers", Zero Motorcycles' campaign
"Cash for Carbon" offers a $2,500 (€1,880) trade-in bonus to anyone
buying a new electric bike.
What's even cooler about this bonus is the fact that it tops whatever discounts a Zero dealer may have already offered to the new customer. This bonus is yet another incentive which adds to the recent 10% federal tax credit, part of the American Taxpayer Relief Act. The tax credit equals 10% from the retail value of an electric vehicle, but will not exceed $2,500.
This means people who are currently riding bikes but willing to let them go and buy a Zero electric motorcycle can now get a solid $5,000 discount for the new ride. “Cash for Carbon” will run from Jan. 1, 2013, through March 31, 2013. Consumers must print a “Cash for Carbon” voucher for presentation at their local dealership to receive the $2,500 bonus, Zero adds.
