Chevrolet has shown the first photo of the upcoming sedan version of the Sail,
which is set to go on sale in India later this year. The sedan borrows a
lot from the hatchback variant, in terms of design, and while it may
not be the flashiest-looking small sedan on the market, it is
well-proportioned and not bad to look at, if a bit on the drab side.
Nevertheless, it will win over buyers with its extra boot space over its hatchback sibling and it is aimed squarely at the locally-manufactured Maruti Swift Dzire (basically a sedan version of the Suzuki Swift). It is also expected to match the Swift Dzire in terms of price and spec, so its 5-year or 150,000 km warranty, ABS, EBD, two standard airbags and a whole host of safety features will definitely give its promoters something to talk about.
Official pricing details have yet to be revealed, and the diesel version, powered by a 1.3-liter engine will be a lot more desirable than the base 1.2-liter petrol. Also, despite the fact that previous reports suggested that it would also get a 1.4-liter petrol unit, this has been denied by the company.
