Carbon Fiber Tech from Lexus LFA to Be Used in Other Models

The Lexus LFA has officially gone out of production, and it will truly be missed. Aside from the exorbitant price tag, there was really nothing wrong with it, and it was one of the best-engineered and best to drive of all the front-engined supercars.

However, its death won`t be in vain, and while the current economic climate is simply too weak for Lexus to even consider building a direct replacement, the time and effort invested in the development of the LFA will not go to waste. Now, engineers are beginning to look at ways to use the carbon fiber technology they have developed specifically for the car, in other models.

They are still a long way from actually getting an actual model out, but there are plenty of contenders in the pipeline, which would really benefit from the use of carbon fiber. The two ideas brought forth by autonews.com, are the ‘new Toyota Supra’, which is being developed with BMW, or the production version of the Lexus LF-LC.

Either way, carbon fiber will slowly begin to make an appearance in regular cars, and Lexus and Toyota may be among the pioneers, especially since they already have access to the technology, and have already developed it. All they need to do now is just find a way to reduce the costs involved, and they`re set.
