Audi still hasn`t made any real impact with any of its green vehicles, regardless of the fact that they are concepts or production versions, yet this has not stopped them from trying. They are now testing an all-electric version of the A3, in the US, and now, according to Autobild, they will be unveiling a plug-in hybrid version of the A3, at the Geneva Motor Show, later this year.
The car will be powered by a 2.0-liter petrol engine and an electric motor which together will produce 237 hp. However, aside from the impressive power figure, the green A3 is also reportedly capable of achieving a combined efficiency rating of 2.0 l/100km or 117.6 US mpg/ 141.2 UK mpg.
Also, with its 8 kWh battery pack, the car is said to have a maximum all-electric range of 50 km or 31 miles.
Now for the sad part - when and if it gets launched, it will start at around €35,000 which is a serious wad of cash, and you have to really want one, to be able to justify it to yourself.
