While Google may have obtained a license to test out its
autonomous in the US (in Nevada) first, Audi is the first actual
automaker to do the same. Now, while you may not have heard about this
fact too much, Audi has been actually doing its own very extensive
research in the field of EVs for many years now, and in 2007 they sent a
self-driven TTS up the Pikes Peak hillclimb course, in Colorado.
The car managed to complete the course in 27 minutes, at normal speeds, which is impressive considering the fact that it usually takes over an hour to complete. Now, they can legally test their cars throughout the entire state of Nevada.
No further information is available, though, but Audi should be revealing more within the next few days, during the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show, which has started today, and lasts until Friday, January 11, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
