2014 Infiniti Q50 Luxury Sports Sedan Revealed in Detroit

2014 Infiniti Q50 Luxury Sports Sedan Revealed in Detroit
Nisssan’s spinoff luxury brand Infiniti has cemented its reputation and is now streamlining its identity. A new design philosophy has been created, one which is previewed by the replacement for the G sedan.

The new luxury sports sedan is called the Q50. It’s the first new product from Infiniti to make use of their naming strategy.

Unveiled on Monday at the 2013 orth American International Auto Show (NAIAS), the Q50 will go on sale this summer, according to the statement made by the company’s boss at the highlights event held in Detroit.

The Q50 has the exact same wheelbase as its predecessor, the G37. Yet, following the industry trend, it’s longer and wider, not to mention slightly lower. President Johan de Nysschen said Infiniti is building a brand now present in 50 countries, though the model faces stiff competition from rivals like like the Cadillac ATS, BMW 3-Series or Audi A4.

However, the Q50 has no four-cylinder or turbo engines, which are the bread and butter in the entry luxury segment. Instead, it’s powered by either a 328 horsepower V6 or a hybrid system with 354 hp thanks to a 3.5-liter V6 and an electric motor.

"We challenged ourselves with this new Infiniti Q50 to take another great leap in terms of proportion, Infiniti-ness and premium quality. It presents a new benchmark of Infiniti's sedan leadership," said Chief Creative Officer Shiro Nakamura.

Below, you will find two videos released by Infiniti from the Q50’s official debut even at the Detroit Show. One of them features an impressive live performance by the world-famous Cirque du Soleil.
