In the early 2000s, Aston Martin replaced the barbaric twin supercharged V8 Vantage with the drop dead gorgeous V12 Vanquish. That car’s wide flanks and long hood continued on until 2007 when the DBS debuted and began scorching highways around the globe. With recent name changes taking place after the automaker’s split from Ford, it appears that the simple, numeric badge system is being replaced by old school, names. When the DBS is replaced by a new model, it will more than likely be called the Vanquish once again.
According to Car and Driver magazine, the next big Aston will be debuting fairly soon and will join other models which now hold nameplates instead of alphanumeric nomenclature. The Vanquish will join existing cars such as the Vantage, Rapide, Virage and that other one that begins with “C” that isn’t really an Aston. When the car hits the market, it should look rather similar to its predecessors with a sloping rear, long hood and wide fenders. More than likely, a big bore V12 will be found under the hood as well as every piece of luxury and technology the grand touring experts posses.
