Renault Clio 4 Coming to Paris Motor Show

Renault Clio 4 Coming to Paris Motor Show
There is no way to overestimate the importance the new Clio hold for Renault. The French carmaker will likely throw every compact technology it can in order to ensure the fourth generation will sell, and sell well.

The new Clio is expected to make its debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show at the end of this September, with full production to begin shortly after. As you can see from these latest photos, the architecture of the car has been enlarged a bit, in a move that reminds us of how the Ford Fiesta grew outside its supermini origins.

Numerous prototypes have been spot, some of the with strange looking humps and bumps on the bonnet, roof and doors. This could be hiding hybrid tech or some fort of secondary soft-roading concept with extra body parts that will be shown in Paris.

The styling of the Renault Clio IV is becoming evident through the camo. This will borrow elements from the DeZir coupe concept and the new Zoe electric car. However, Renault is introducing LED bars in the grille.

On the engine front, Renault Tce 90 turbocharged 3-cylinder engine. With its 899cc displacement, VVT (Variable Valve Timing) technology and low-inertia turbocharging the engine delivers 90hp at 5,000rpm and its peak torque of 135Nm is available across a wide rev range with 90% of it available from 1,650rpm. The other important new engine we know of is the 1.2-liter TCe 115 turbocharged petrol that puts out 115 hp and 190Nm (140lb-ft) of torque.

The bad news is that the Clio Sport will be sold only as a five-door and will probably have an increase of 10 hp or less over the current 200 RS.
