You know how
Lamborghini names its cars after bulls. The Aventador, the newest and
most powerful machine to come out of Sant'Agata, is named after the most
courageous of bulls, the bull with the biggest... Well, it certainly
takes some attachments to try and tame 700 hp and 509 lb-ft of torque,
all wrapped in high-tech lightweight materials so it can whizz from
nothing to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 217 mph.
The V12-equipped, all-wheel-drive Aventador displaces the Murciélago as
Lambo's flagship supercar, and only a few nuts and bolts have been
carried over, according to the company, although it still employs
retractable air vents mounted into the rear pillar. American buyers can
expect to see their new ride from October, once they have written a
check for $370,000. Which, as it turns out, can be considered something
of a steal. The Bugatti Veyron, for example, does 60 mph in 2.5 seconds
and maxes out at 253 mph, but how many people are really going to
accelerate and run top speeds like that? And pay $1.6 million for the
privilege?
