2013 BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe - If 6 was 4+1

2013 BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe - If 6 was 4+1
It had to happen. BMW has made a four-door coupe, following the bandwagon started by the Mercedes-Benz CLS and jumped on by the Audi A7 Sportback. This is the 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe. For those already wondering what to do with their legs, the GC is 4.4 inches longer than the regular 6 Series coupe, so that means a little extra rear space. The first variant arrives this summer: the 640i, motivated by a 3.0-liter straight six that makes a turbocharged 315 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. It’s the slowest version in the sprint from standstill to 60 mph, but 5.4 seconds is still good. This will soon be followed by a 650i, with a turbo 4.4-liter V8 (445 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque) plus an all-wheel-drive version, badged as a 650i xDrive Gran Coupe. This one is the fastest to 60 mph: 4.5 seconds. You know how some cars are called 2+2, which really means that the rear seats are virtually useless? BMW calls the Gran Coupe a 4+1, so chances are it won’t take five occupants unless one of them is a leprechaun. The 6 GC will have all the usual BMW equipment options, such as night vision, heads-up display and a Bang & Olufsen surround sound system.
