It’s 121 pounds
lighter than a Cayman S, has 330 hp (the S has 320 hp), a lowered and
retuned suspension, Boxster Spyder lightweight alloy 19-inch wheels, a
fixed rear wing and nice graphics running down the side. It’s the ’12
Porsche Cayman R and who cares if it doesn’t have air conditioning or a
stereo? The best acceleration time to 60 mph (4.4 seconds) is done with
the optional PDK double-clutch transmission and Sport Chrono package.
Otherwise, the six-speed manual can achieve a respectable 4.7 seconds.
This sweet mid-engined coupe goes on sale in the States in February 2011
with a starting price of $66,300. Oh, for a generous benefactor.
