You’d be forgiven for thinking that Alfa Romeo brand is never
coming to the US, but Sergio Marchionne seems to have gotten all his
ducks in a row. The new Spyder will arrive in 2015 and will be built in
Japan, an SUV might be on the way, but most importantly, their halo car
is almost ready.
According to a statement he made at the 2013 NAIAS this Friday, the 4C should be ready for the US market by the end of the year.
"We're finalizing the car now, so it should be here by the end of the year," Marchionne said, according to a report from the Detroit News. "It's ready in the sense of all the work with architecture and types of models."
To be honest, that worries us more than it calms us down. The 4C has
already been show twice as a concept, and we’re not sure we can take a
third time. In addition a teaser they released in December last year clearly hinted 2013 would be the year when the 4C is launched.
The fact that Marchionne mentions “types of models” leads us to believe
there will indeed be two outputs for the 1.8-liter turbo engine, one at
about 230 and the other at 300 horsepower.
