Ford Motor Company has announced it’s sold 239 acres (about a
square kilometer) of the former Wixom Assembly Plant to Trident Barrow
Management, LLC, a unit of Barrow Development.
Ford Wixom Assembly Plant, now known as the Ford Renewable Energy Park, is one of the Blue Oval’s oldest factories. It’s responsible for building over 6 million cars since it opened in 1957. The cars include various models years of the Lincoln Continental, Ford Thunderbird, Town Car and even the mighty Ford GT supercar.

“We’re very pleased with the sale of the property and look forward to watching new development in the Wixom area,” said Donna Inch, Ford Land chairman and CEO. “Both the mayor and city officials have been diligent and steadfast on assisting with repurposing the property and working with the new owners on demolition permitting.”
“Our goal is to make this property an asset with long-term value,” said Brian Wilson, co-founder of Barrow Development Group. “Although it’s too early to determine future plans for the site, we will collaborate with both the city and the community when planning for future development.”
