The gullwinged SLS
AMG is already a pretty interesting car. But rip out the engine and
replace it with four electric motors driving a wheel each, then slap on a
coat of "lumilectric mango" paint, and the result is the zero-emissions
SLS AMG E-Cell. As we reported in the December ’10 issue, erstwhile
concept car is now set for production. The big numbers work out to 526
hp, 649 lb-ft of torque and zero to 60 mph in about 4 seconds. The
company still has no details yet on range, recharge time or cost. But it
should go on sale some time next year.
