Here’s another of those “why do they have all the fun in Europe?” stories. Audi is making a limited run (333 units) of a hot A1 subcompact, running with 253 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque and all-wheel drive. The engine is the tried-and-true VW Group 2.0-liter turbo four that propels this car from zero to 60 mph in under five seconds and hits a top speed of 152 mph. The transmission is a six-speed manual; the wheels are 18-inch turbine design alloys. The car is finished in Glacier White Metallic, and there will be plenty of cosmetic markers and equipment levels (including Wi-Fi) to justify what will probably be a somewhat heady price. The A1 Quattro is due in the second half of the year and it’s not even clear if the Brits will get it.
