Porsche unveiled the
918 RSR hybrid race car, which boasts peak performance of 767 horsepower
at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The 918 RSR
is an evolution of the 911 GT3 R and the 918 Spyder hybrid concepts last
year. The 918 RSR is powered by the 563 hp. V-8 from the RS Spyder
racer and has electric motor on each of the front wheels that provide 75
kilowatts each for a total net horsepower of 767 at peak. Regenerative
braking creates the electric power, which is stored with a flywheel.
